I haven't bought a non-gaming laptop in my life. Do non-gaming laptops not come with ports anymore or something?

>ree why do all the laptops specifically marketed as being thin not have numerous bulky ports!!
Cringe. My Dell work laptop has hdmi, ethernet, two usb-c, two usb-a and a 3.5mm jack. Is that considered enough for you? Or do you also need PS/2 and VGA/DVI? Retard.

there are still laptops with a lot of ports. its just most consumers like the thin minimalist laptops. usually only power users who are techies go for the fully featured laptops.

Nobody but sysadmins buy 10 pound monstrosities with every port known to man. The vast majority of prosumers buy a mac (and then bitch they need a hub)

I have a gen 9 X1 Carbon, 2 USB-A, 2 USB-C, 1 HDMI and a combo jack. Why would I need anything else if I'm not connected to a docking station? In the rare instance I need ethernet and don't have access to a dock a USB-C to ethernet adapter takes up next to 0 space in my bag,

sounds like me. i like large laptops with lots of ports. i like bulkier laptops, but i dont care about weight. i really only use the laptops i buy as stationary machines in place of a desktop, except for laptops that i really need to be small for its use case.

I actually work in industrial automation instead of sipping onions lattes while pretending to code and the bare minimum is hdmi / Ethernet (two would be nice) / 2 or 3 USB ports

Sadly the laptops provided at my work (thinkpad P16) removed the Ethernet port which is a massive pain in the ass

>this is somehow Job's fault
Dell went all out with copying Apple that they're now irrelevant. Lenovo still does their own thing and they're the most dominant pc company in the world.

Some companies want you to buy their dock station or their usb hub, and/or just save money at the factory by giving you less and pay more.

The normie user does not notice that, they just

>less usb
>mmmm a Bluetooth combo mouse and keyboard and it fixed!! i'm a genius!!

in the normal use case i think i personally need

4 usb a
2 usb c
1 ethernet 2.5 gbps
1 sd card
1 hdmi

1xHDMI
1xUSB-C with DP out
1xSDcard slot

Because zoomers like them thin and light. Japan was the last place where they kept making something similar, but they're probably on their last leg there, too. How ancient is that laptop anyway? I actually had to look for that "Powered USB" thing, I'm not that old myself...
