LFS is primarily for education purposes.
You'll get all the configurability you need from some off the shelf distro.

its primary use is learning, but a stage 1 LFS will give you an incredibly based personal system that you can make your own. The key points being a very lightweight and current hardware focused kernel, incredibly minimal software installation(literally bloat=0(zero)), and a truly personalize system in almost every category. Is it worth your time? We can't answer that, only you can; but the knowledge acquired while attempting to build it is invaluable.
I say go for it, but there is no shame in immediately throwing in the towel and just installing a netinstall Debian-based/Archinstall/GNU+Gentoo compiled/NixOS reproducible experience.

Nobody seriously does Linux from Scratch except for educational purposes. You're better off using Gentoo or Arch Linux if you're trying to keep a minimalist setup. Most people don't exactly pull off a LFS build correctly and the amount of revision work you need to do never ends to make it a daily driver. Every single developer or student that was serious about learning or doing work runs from a stable environment, LFS is one of those theoretical things that exist, there isn't really any point in doing it.

Don't listen to these retards. If you want true customizability (such as using different desktop environment like KDE or Hyprland) you WILL needs to use LFS. The retards above are GNOME users and are not aware of said customizability.
