Sounds like you mean self-employed, so not unless you know what you're doing and are also a bit lucky. If you're new and and pure average Joe, expect pocket change at best, assuming they even bother to give you anything. If you keep it as a side hustle and live frugally then sure, it can be an okay supplement. Don't expect to be buying luxury meme cars even if you do manage to turn it into usable wage on its own. Best case is you get picked up by a company that carries your ass, which makes a lot of the problems go away but comes with the usual bullshit from not being your own boss.

I'm a college student (CS) so I have virtually zero expenses right now so even pocket change as a thing on the side would come in handy while also doing something that's more practical and useful than wageslaving at mcdonalds (I will have time to do that once I graduate anyway)
anyway thanks for the heads up, I just assumed (maybe correctly even) that it's one of those things where the top 5% gets pretty much everything while the bottom gets the scraps making the time/effort investment almost meaningless

Yeah you can, but it's maybe only about 5% or less of researchers on major platforms such as hacker one that can actually succeed at it, most other people get paid peanuts.

hackerone is a kiked service that needs to dig around your rectum for bombs before they pay a single cent. don't bother with them.
