Problem is we're already at a point where many sites just don't work like they should with Firefox.

google likes to fuck the landscape by early adopting new web technologies, like webrtc so the competition has no choice but to blindly follow them. Similar to what microsoft did with opendocument. This creates a situation where even if you have a 100% compliant and working browser, you'll still won't be able to load every pages because some site perform chrome-specific logic behind the scene. And it becomes really expensive to have people constantly monitor what is added to chromium to add it back to their own web browser.
