Nokia missed the opportunity to make a "modern" communicator when they were making windows phones.

i'd probably still be using one if they came out in 2016, i only replaced my Lumia 2 years ago.

No they don't. They had already died by them. Microsoft clearly had no vision on what to do and it was too early for the convergence that Apple is pushing. Microsoft as most big tech acquiring a company means it's spirit dies almost immediately.

Thr real shame is that Maemo/Meego was the ideal OS and it is still dead on water.

That picture is from their old linux phones.
Microsoft did some strange buyout and the new windows(lumia) phones had the new touchscreen design and ran Nokia to the ground.
