Don't buy anything OTHER THAN IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad T, X, and W/P Series (especially X230, T440p and T480, those are the best pads for bucks) if you want the Real Business Experienceโ„ข
Other business laptops are welcome in /tpg/ (Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook)

Why ThinkPad?
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap
>Excellent keyboards, tactile feel and quiet
>Great durability: magnesium roll cage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop
>Easy to repair (most models), upgrade & maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model, spare parts easy & cheap to obtain
>Excellent Linux & *BSD support
>Trackpoint (why the fuck wasn't this in the general before? that's the only reason to get a thinkpad in 2025 honestly)

I have a T470 with Windows 11 on it. For some reason, I cannot put the laptop to sleep. There is just no option to do that. When I close the lid, I doesn't go to sleep either.

The power button menu has only "Shutdown" and "Restart" options.

Any ideas how to add sleep to Win11?

pls help
i recently bought a T480 internal battery but now its discharging the internal battery before the external battery. i've been googling and this behavior is controlled by the embedded controller, regardless of BIOs or linux fuckery. so my only options are to roll back to a bios version that might have an option of battery priority and hopefully not brick my machine or take out the internal battery which defeats the whole purpose of buying a new one. so my question is: is there different solution? or can someone baby hand hold me into flashing the bios where it will work 100%. pls bros im coming hat in hand

I got my T480 refurbished, replaces they keybaord and trackpad. Didn't do proper research so I got the one with no gpu a the shitty screen. Only big complain is that the case is bent and for some reason the mouse buttons seems like they are sunken after buying a new keyboard. Is this because the keyboard is cheap or because the case is bent.

Was this uses/refurbished?

Also how bad is the no reparability on these new models? Are we talking soldered RAM/SSD?

How decent is E14 Gen 7 - U5 225U for casual use? It will be connected to my TV 24/7 and will be used for video playback and browsing. I will be disconnecting it only when I'm traveling.

it has the classic look but not feel, also you need to mod the ec to remap the keys just like the xx30 thinkpads (good luck)

Brand new because I finally have an actual paycheck and wanted something that doesn't fall apart as quick as my last one and performant.

It has soldered wifi card but everything else is replaceable.
