If a fully functional warp drive was actually created, would a public announcement be made or...this discovery would be kept secret?

Skunk Works employs 5600 employees as of 4 years ago working on black projects. Whatever they're working on, we don't find out until the government thinks we're ready. Whatever we do know is usually 10-20 years old information when revealed.

There is currently no warp drive. I am basing this on the idea that if anyone was able to make it, it would be the US military and they would likely start with a warp bomb rather than a warp drive. We haven't seen anythinf that would indicate tests of such a bomb, so I am inclined to think we do not have the technology.
