that might work/have worked with "Palestinians". but apparently, "israel" and their fancy unit got buck broken by Yemenis chewing on Khat while talking, according to their own fancy unit reporting.

mass surveillance was always retarded anyway. surveillance used to work in the 70s/80s because it didn't involve too many people, and the people themselves where retarded and acted like no one could listen to their phone conversations. now, the situation is more of a "those who say don't know, and those who know won't say" one.
many people, including many arabs, also overestimate the number of israeli jews who know arabic. that number was high(ish) because many "Arab jews" were simply native speakers when israel was forming, and they simply worked for/in the security apparatus directly and lead some units there.
but most of these people are either dead, or deep into retirement now, and their offspring's native tongue is the abomination that is modern hebrew, which wasn't fully by choice. a common own goal!
so now, they have to rely on local "Palestinians" who are "Israeli Citizens". but they obviously can't (or won't) rely on them with the most sensitive/dangerous stuff (even the "israeli jews" themselves are "layered" when it comes to these matters).
so that's how they found themselves in this mess. and now they are trying to rectify the situation by teaching agents to speak some arabic dialects, but they will never be as good as native speakers. there will never be enough of them. and "israel" probably doesn't have the time for this to work.
