At that point it was just hip to have the expensive phone. "Obama uses a Blackberry" was unironic. Nobody was glued to them, and they were still understood to primarily be working devices. The iPhone itself was only available on AT&T in the US until the iPhone 4, and did not explode in popularity until then.

Time travel back to 1945 and assassinate Milton Friedman.
You could also stop Hiroshima if you felt like having a giggle and seeing how that one would turn out.

1945 is required. Without 1945 for Friedman, you'll still end up with this inevitably.
I'd argue that even if you were to shotgun blast Jobs in 1992 you could not avoid this so long as the other event in 2007 happened. Again, would merely be delayed by about 3 years. You only need to look at Samsung & HTC to see where it was heading. In fact, if you wished to retain Nokia or Ericsson as distinct brands and manufacturers you'd have to go with poisoning Friedman in 1945, no other way.

>normies
You don't fit in.
Also normalfaggots could always afford them, finance was available even throughout the gfc. Most of the cellphone industry relied on it at the time and it allowed the market to stabilise. All that changed was they stopped giving devices out free to high risk claims for a while, to offset any potential losses and packages changed to charge higher rates for things that didn't really cost the network much to offer.

Trojan horse to ruin the internet and then censor/control it, controlling the internet back when the userbase was relatively small was impossible because the majority of users would've fought back so the solution was introducing this crap to the market, make the internet popular and when almost all the population is using the internet then proceed with their ambitions, now only like 1% of the internet users care about it being censored/controlled and if we fight back the other 99% will call us weirdos. So basically yes this shit ruined the world, is a machine to control the masses.

Moving the normies to the internet broke the MSM's back and caused massed noticing to the point where they want to destroy the internet because it's so bad now. It will eventually have saved the west.
Normies are so pozzed and zogged that they ruined everything but that's not necessarily the fault of the normies, they grew up watching the MSM. They're slowly becoming more like us because we influence them more than anyone else now and one day they too will shitpost endlessly about their favorite anime waifu and won't be such a burden so it all will work out eventually.

Steve Jobs at least had a vision and he hated anything that ruined user-experience. Compare the original YouTube app that shipped on the iPhone 3Gs with what YouTube is like now. He would be appalled at what the Internet has become if he were still alive now.
