Are you a woman? Who cares about the looks of their electronic devices? I want my phone and my computer to literally be black boxes that do what I've ordered them to. I'll probably buy one used in three years when my Pixel 7 stops working and install GrapheneOS on it

But to answer your question it is because they have so many physical cameras now and that makes it ugly, they don't know what to do with them.
The round washing machine looking ones look the worst to me.
