Alas, it is the curse of the Linux fag to must assume the notion of ‘mine is based and (you)rs is cringe’
That is why we need less fragmentation within the distro landscape. Mint should merge under debian etc. Mint would be light and agile (modern) as a proving ground to allow classic debian to catch up a little faster, where knowledge and assistance can exchanged more easily between teams

I don't think your premise is even true.
I use Fedora because it's the most convenient distro that still follows free software principles but I have no gripes with arch linux, none at all. I'm sure there are some arch linux users who think everything else sucks but the truth of the matter is most users are simply not interested in configuring EVERYTHING, they just want a usable operating system
