Is possible to learn Python, SQL, Excel, Spanish, and Dutch within 1 year?
I have a job opportunity coming up, but I need to know these 4 skills before July of 2026. Possible?

Of course it is, but you have to have the energy and motivation to stay true to the course.
Spanish/Dutch are easy if you know English. Python is easy, SQL&Excel just require you know where where the resources you need to make them work the way you want are located. SQL&Excel are fucking video games, and you can just google cheat codes for it. Focus on the Spanish Dutcha and Python. Excel & SQL are google-fu worthy projects, but don't waste time trying to be a guru for them.

SQL and Excel are really easy, you can basically just learn it as you can go with each task. Python take a course.

But learning Spanish and Dutch is going to be difficult.

Languages are a huge commitment. I don't think you can learn two at once. Pick one.

Spanish has gendered words & articles, it's a slightly more complex language than English. I don't know what Dutch is like.

What languages do you speak at the moment? You can assume it will take you 6 months if you already know a romance/germanic language, about 18 months if you don't—though you'd have to multiply it by 2 if you are trying both at the same time, and more if you do not have accesss to native speakers.

I mean, grammar is secondary. Learning the top 5000 most used words of each language is doable in a year and from there on you can use your caveman communication skills to improve.

Anon you are exaggerating, as an Italian native speaker it took me about a year and a half to get to a B2 level in Dutch, and it would have been even quicker if most of you guys didn't default to English with non-natives. In terms of irregularities it's no worse than most romance language, and sure as fuck much better than English.

Wouldn't English be the lingua franca in such a scenario? I seriously question the need for knowing Dutch just for shore leave. Focus on python and excel. I assume you have some other skill that they need. Are you a deck hand or a researcher?

Why do you need both Spanish and Dutch?
If you never learned foreign languages before you're in a rough position unless you can dedicate 2 hours daily to each (weekends included!).
You also didn't specify what level you need. If it's B1 or maybe B2 then sure. Anything higher is pretty much impossible unless you really give it your absolute all.

Python is somewhat easy, SQL at an intermediate level is also relatively easy. Excel is about practice unless they're asking you to know VBA.

I've never met a Dutch who couldn't speak English.
