Do you own one? If so, which one and how do you feel about it? I was quite skeptical of them, but got one for cheap for the hell of it and I use it way more than I thought I would, for a few specific usecases its just better than a smartphone, laptop or desktop, like reading manga or drawing, it's also more portable than a laptop, while still being big.

I got a chinknovo
It's no replacement for a proper computer. Out of all the things I wanted to do it only does youtube well.
The web browsers suck, windowing support sucks, hell it can't even view pictures properly.

I have 3 in use right now, they are:
a circa 2013 Samsung galaxy tab 3 7in (8gb/1gb ram) exclusively for reading books cause it's too old for anything else
a 2020 8 inch Samsung 1080p (32gb/2gb ram) tablet used exclusively for manga and anime
a 2019 Surface Go (128gb/8gb ram) that I use for visual novels and note taking

I've always liked tablets for content consumption, my only gripe is you have to be careful to make sure to buy one that is appropriately specced or you'll get angry realizing just how few apps can be installed and how slow it can be.

My iPad Pro is collecting dust, but I do use a Tab S8+ for reading manga everyday. It's not very useful aside from that.

>few specific usecases
>drawing
much better with a specialized drawing tablet
I don't believe anyone who really likes to draw in any remotely proficient way uses a tablet.
>more portable than a laptop
it's not really, you're not putting it in the pocket, it takes the same space as a laptop and needs a special cover since it's not a laptop clamshell
mildly more convenient to use on a couch, that's it, that's the only benefit
a cheap(ish) light laptop with a good screen like macbook air is miles ahead of any tablet

I bought a kobo well over a decade ago and used it for comics and manga occasionally for porn but found it to be less versatile because of its age which was extremely old even when I bought it. Got a tablet as a hand me down and its nice but cumbersome to carry around or hold and it hand no real upside other than screen size.
I have been thinking about getting an iPad for work as I have to often look at manuals and fill out/sign forms which would be easy to sync with my work phone over an android device

I've got an Onyx Boox Max 2 (ereader but it's 13" and runs Android so I'll be damned if it's not a tablet) and a Z Fold 3. Also a Latitude XT2 if that counts

I have an S10 Ultra. Kind of overpowered for my usecase, which is exclusively reading and online browsing. But it is far better than my phone, because... screen is bigger.

The Studio Trigger behind the scenes videos shows that at least one of them (a girl it looked like) uses Procreate on an iPad to draw their stuff. They had it mounted pretty high up.

I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about but if it's work studio setting, then it's irrelevant to most people. Tablet drawing has become good *enough* for most non-professional drawing, so it's not like you're significantly hobbled if you just need to make some quick sketches
though yes, I suspect there's a sweet spot somewhere for vibe based inspiration normies that do all their business on smartphone or elsewhere and just want to watch netflix and occasionally draw where tablet makes sense, considering that it doubles as an unloved child pacifier too

Just 18/19 seconds in. Fairly sure that's an iPad. Appears again 3 minutes later.

I keep forgetting I have a tablet.
It's okay for watching something in bed. Outside of that I sometimes use it for music (sampler app, piano app)

Same, just got it in few days ago. (m11 8gb)
I got it mostly to play music when my pc is not running, so play flac from sd card + a few radio streaming apps. It does this reasonably well.
I don't YT on that device, I did try a recipe app (brocolli) but that's been a real disappoint desu
>The web browsers suck, windowing support sucks, hell it can't even view pictures properly
Same, tablets suck so much or at least the OS does

Also got pic related (not mine but same model) running lineageos for running home assistant, got if for real cheap as battery is dead but I don't need that, it just needs to show HA kiosk

iPad Pro, it's honestly a crazy machine. The sound, display, feel, drawing experience, all top notch. The only meaningful improvements to make are OLED and software that takes advantage of the hardware.

I have a Surface Pro 6 from like 7 years ago. I use it mostly for "background noise" video playback and some reading, very rarely as a real PC when I don't have access to my desktop for whatever reason. I was quite happy with it for a long time but the 8GB RAM and 2018-era ULV 4c CPU, plus extremely slow soldered SSD are getting a bit long in the tooth.

I would say I'm looking for an upgrade but the PC tablet market is pretty crap and there aren't really many options available as far as I can see. They're all extremely expensive for what you're getting. I could buy a newer Surface but shit's like double the price I paid for mine and doesn't even come with a keyboard.

iPad fan here
Literally every iPad fan will complain about how the OS is shit and I’m no exception but it’s great in bed and in the kitchen and as a bachelor entertainment device while I’m eating

My iPad takes up way less space than my MacBook Pro and it’s noticeably lighter
Normally this isn’t a problem because I wear a backpack
>>106171862
Current iPads Pro are OLED
I don’t have mine auto-sleep so I’m glad mine isn’t
>>106174159
On the other hand, I tried a 13" iPad and hated it because it was too big to hold in two hands and type with two thumbs
Definitely took advantage of Apple’s 14-day no-questions-asked return policy there
Went back screaming to my 10.5" and now I’m on an 11"

Well, probably he means something like better pressure detection and less diagonal wobble or whatever. But for me, the reason I use a drawing tablet is because all normal tablets are fuckin' tiny. Biggest one I know is the 14.6 inch Samsung one. My 19 inch Huion one that I use is much better to draw on, simply because of how much space I have. Moreover, I use Rebelle 7 to draw and that's Windows/Mac only. No Android/iOS support.
