We literally solved keyboards 10 years ago. Yet features such as media controls, 122 keys, extra programmable buttons, ergonomic wrist rests, and so forth are barely seen today.

Worse yet, the market is now dominated by fake keyboards, such as 60% and 75% layouts. Why?

Blame a GUI program with shitty UX that forces the user to use mouse. Keyboard is just for typing tools nowadays instead of being a command control device. That's why you get mini keyboard layout meme

it's a waste of space. what macros do you possibly need to have them available at all times in front of you as a button?

I've already lost 2 of these $200 gaymen mechanical keyboards due to their chink electronics. They lasted 2 years each.
Membrane outlast these 10x.

Once you get used to media/volume controls and other shortcuts from the right hand, you can never go back.

Unless of course you think you can get your hands on a set of daughterboards using mechanical switches for that exact purpose.

You can pick these up for $80 these days and refurbish them yourself with new switches and LEDs or you can go for a Redragon K850 Vata or something and swap out the switches as needed, even if it has less buttons.

The extra keys and buttons are just daughter boards, right? Can't you buy those separately? Or is that too expensive compared to having everything under one chassis?

Binding volume up/down to CapsLock+F1/F2 is not an option? Just make another layer using any free modifier like Caps, Win or RAlt. There's no way a keyboard manufacturer can think of better, more ergonomic setup than the /g/tard himself.
