I think it's tainted fuel or badly configured computers though. If you input the wrong settings before the flight you can end up with reduced thrust. The plane looked like it was struggling just to get off the ground.

There's a certain speed they calculate before takeoff where if they reach it as they're going down the runway then they have to take off no matter what, since trying to stop would result in a crash and probably kill everyone. If something is wrong you need to notice before you reach that speed. They might have noticed too late.

I don't know much about the 787, but you'd definitely need a loss of all four IDGs and possibly a failed start of the APU (if it autostarts). Assuming autostart, you have a very weird electrical fault across all buses (impossible) or fuel contamination. Assuming no autostart there are a million additional possibilities from wrong engine shutdown to bird strikes

The experts I've seen who have looked at the available footage seem to agree on a form of pilot error. This gets tricky as to exactly what happened though. Birds while they have caused crashes seem to be last choice due to no footage of a flock spiting out the back of the engines as of yet and the plane being capable of take off with a single engine.

I really think fuel contamination is possible here given the circumstances and indian standards, or pilot error of course. If so, what the fuck did they do to lose all power on an aircraft that just passed V1 with no issue.
