I agree with this completely, and while I don't like pedophiles at all, those same people have this really warped and twisted hate-lust for pedos. It's almost like it's to compensate or take attention away from their own skeletons in their closet. It's akin to those closeted Republican politicians back in the day who were very anti-gay despite being super gay behind closed doors.

There are better and more effective ways of doing these sting missions to get the child molesters off the streets, but the violent humiliation rituals that these vigilantes do is all for spectacle and sensationalism to drive up profits and clicks. They don't give a flying shit if their methods result in cases against their targets get thrown out in court, resulting in a wiser predator.

The thing I hate about these predator hunters is that they're all corny and have no class. Chris Hanson is the model to follow, but they all make a complete joke out of the craft that he perfected.

This is true. Same for "To catch a predator" It's actually sickening how little these people actually care about protecting kids from pedos (have you ever seen any of them do anything helpful, do outreach, or teach people & kids how to spot dangerous adults?) and how the entire concept is 100% just perverse pleasure in seeing these sickos squirm, sweat, panic, get beat up and or tackled by cops (in the case of to catch a predator).
But you can't really critique this bullshit, because the moment you question them, they come back with: "Why do you wanna protect pedos??" and no matter how well thought out your response, is, how many statistics you have on how what they're doing doesn't help protect kids AT ALL, they'll just keep saying: "So you want to protect the pedos? Interesting". It's annoying as shit.
But it seems that at least with the recent waves of "pedo hunters" people are starting to realize that it's just morally justified "happy slapping" videos.

Good point. Hansen's show was far from perfect but the contrast is still enormous. They lured the pedos in and once they got them in the trap, he confronted them in a calm and collected manner. He let them dig their own grave and the fun was watching the pedos lose themselves in their shitty lies.
