I promise you guys, you might not want to believe it, but there's a warm, wet, anaerobic environment which is condusive to fermentation. There is a yeasty sort of bread-like smell at first, and you think, "well, I like bread and I like beer so this isn't so bad". My friends, it gets worse. So much worse. It's like something died and rotted and you were the first to arrive on the scene. It's what I imagine the pyramids smell like when they open the tombs. Years of untouched bacterial and fungal growth that is suddenly exposed.
IDK, that's what my ex's smelled like anyway.
