For some people, this is provided by traditional religion. For others, it comes from their political affiliation, or their job, or their family. Everyone has some higher-than-physical frame of reference for what a person should aspire to be.
The problem with Atheism is that it takes things that are lowly, like consumerism and political shitflinging, and elevates them to a high position of authority. Meanwhile, Christians are trying to contemplate a higher form of perfected behavior that transcends even humanity itself.
It's not about RIGHT or WRONG, FACT or FICTION, it's about what perspective leads to men with healthier, happier mindsets that lead to prosocial behavior.
Who do you want as your neighbor? A man who believes in nothing except Funko Pops and his porn addiction, or a man who goes to church every Sunday? Regardless of which worldview is correct, I know which dude will be a good member of a sane human community, and I know which one won't.
You do too, if you'd have the balls to admit it.
