The cons themselves aren't anymore weird than your typical anime convention. The only thing that I saw that you dont see at an anime con was an adult section for smut/sex toys, but they're always closed off/covered up and you need to show ID before entering the section, which is actually somehow more socially conscious than alot of anime cons where people will be selling doujins and hentai just splayed out in their booths.
Anyone complaining about "room parties" and anything of that sort is also blissfully unaware that behavior is pretty common at alot of "nerd" convention afterparties, it's just they keep it alot more hush hush than furries do.
