Nothing happened. They simply don't have smartphones stealing their attention and no internet to post videos onto. Their privacy was secure even if a AV Club dweeb were to go down the halls with a camera.

4chan's /gif/ is actually a great source of porn. If you think, it's actually the only place where you could watch something simillar to shorts/reels but with porn.
There is three problems tho:
- moronic 2004 level of limits, lack of mp4
- 4chan in general is dying
- mostly same posters, especially creators, which after years of porn consumption lost interest to biological women and went all in for bi-curious (nothing against traps, but there is just too many of them)
