I can't help but guess in a situation like this you lose rational thought, I mean your brain is literally engulfed in flames. You're not thinking clearly, just fighting to stay conscious in extreme peril.
It seems obvious, but there are enough videos like these where they don't even try to extinguish the fire on their body. Something about fire, if powerful enough, overrides self preservation and you just give up.
