Then he should have been doing it in a properly marked medical van. If he was a legit medical non-combatant then there is literally no reason the van shouldn't have been marked as such. Had it been, and if it actually was (because lying and falsely marking something as medical when it it isn't is a violation of the Geneva Conventions and makes it subject to being attacked regardless) then this would have been a war crime the west/Ukraine could be crying about. So if you are a legit medical person there's no reason not to mark yourself as such. It means that you aren't legally allowed to be targeted by the enemy, and if they do it anyway then that's a war crime against them and propaganda your side can use against them, so if you're marked and get attacked anyway at least it has some propaganda value for your side even if you died. But here this guy died and its clear the attack was legit since it wasn't marked.
