I ride motorcycles, have been for about 5 years.
The car was in the wrong, easy. But the motorcycle was a dumbass with 0 spatial awareness. That shit is so easy to see from a mile away. Every time there's a blind intersection caused by cars like that, its so goddamn easy to pay attention and slow down. Same when it comes to intersections with just-turned lights, same when you are coming up on turn lanes going into your lane; people are fucking stupid drivers, and your situational awareness needs to be up. Like its not even funny how obvious of a situation that was, and they weren't even trying to check the blind turn in between cars.
People driving cars are like wild animals. I don't blame them for being fucking stupid, that's just who they are, so the best I can do is not be a dumbass myself.
>It was their fault huuuuur
Yeah and homie is a broken shell of a person, but at least they were right in not checking because its not their fault if someone turns in front of them! I know other riders who've been in crashes, you don't come back from a crash like that 100%. Permanent nerve damage is like a 90% certainty when your legs get fucked, let alone anything else (collapsed lungs, etc). Its easy to think "oh wow they had several broken bones, but they are healed now 2 years later and good as new" - No, they drink themselves cold every night because the nerve pain won't let them sleep, and their joints hurt worse than the worse arthritis.
Pro-tip: If you aren't sure if a dumbass is about to pull out in front of you, don't try to see if the car is moving, look directly at the wheel. You can see the wheel/hubcap move the moment the car does, whereas most people are trying to "wholistically" look at the entire car to see if its pulling out, which takes longer for your brain to register as "its moving".
