Spaniard here. Spanish people are not Latinos. The term is only and exclusively used for people from Latin-America ("Latinoamérica" in Spanish, that's where the word comes from).
If you called someone from Spain a "Latino" we'd just be confused and look at you like you don't know what you're talking about.
Not offensive, just plain incorrect, like calling an American "English" because he speaks the English language. It's just silly and ignorant.
