Being young is great for more reason than just being able to eat whatever you food you want which also has more vibrant flavor, without getting fat. Or for being more active, sexually and physically.
I think more or less it's the relationships that are easily made and easy to keep, because your peers haven't had great failures and regrets, or things that they cling to, responsibilities that sap their sociality, people they can't forget, enemies that occupy their thoughts and stop them from living freely. There's not much at stake except the future, which is adulthood.
Humans aren't even used to adult years, 5+ millions of years of failing to move avg. mortality past 10-20, meanwhile sex happened around age 7-12. For millions of years. Living past 40 is something human life appears to be utterly at odds with the natural vigor of unconscious experience.
What I'm trying to distinguish is the bloom of experience in every persons youth, which only this pressurized, metamorphic timespan full of competition and stress by nature refined into a diamond-like phase of life. Which is life before 20-23.
This isn't an argument against the age of consent. It's proper in the soulless society, which started well before Plato, you could take one look at our leaders who are elderly, and all necessarily ghouls, who since rome are beside themselves, mobilized by their riches and power, to chase primordial fire in harmless children. and from that alone see that consent age must be higher.
Because they and anyone above 40 doesn't know their body anymore. Mind has strayed far away too rapidly, brought technology to savage itself into a million pieces believing things should turn out fine to continue on, imagining the starless hellscape the fracture hints at in our near future will simply be endured, a business-as-usual-society where effortless connections aren't the norm, intuitive wisdom in youth is simply scoffed at today.
