They're that way because they don't have to deal with the consequences.
A man is going to be calmer because he knows that if it turns into a fight, he's going to get into a fight. If the man takes off he has to chase, he can't justifiably shoot in most cases to detain.
When a woman is policing she can be as escalating as she wants because when it comes to violence, she knows that the men are going to deal with it, she can unfairly justify escalation of force and she'll get more help from the general public.
The problem with women policing is that women being in charge of volatile situations are more dangerous. Nobody wants a woman to be the only officer nearby to save their child from a predator.
There's also a self selection bias in which the only women who will go into policing, are the more aggressive "I can beat a man" kind because every other woman knows better. The only candidates for women in policing aren't the average woman, they're a more aggressive woman without the capacity for their body to back up their words.
