Oh wait it does work, just need to keep the fonts folder and config file but delete the Translator folder if you don't want it in Chinese, I was only copying the MAGICAMI DX_Data folder.
They're all there but you don't seen them when filtering by character, you have to actually scroll down there.
And running it using japanese locale seemed to fix the missing audio lines.

I finished trying it out. It's a major disappointment, basically whoever was in charge of it didn't bother to actually put 90% of the new content in the viewer, so the only way to check it out is via spine viewer, without sound and most of the time without animation. There is also a chunk of around 30 characters completely missing, according the the IDs, though I don't know the original IDs so I can't be sure, I'm just going off the gap in the viewer itself.
In any case other than having sound for scenes up to end of 2024-ish it's pretty sloppy. Like I had to combine json files myself to view some scenes in spine viewer because the ones in the viewer had such shitty formatting that the program didn't even recognize them. And some scenes are missing entire atlas files. I could still share it but honestly it might be better to wait for another update that fixes all this shit.

1. Click download on what you want to download, it'll ask you to install uc browser on your pc, do it
2. Once you install it, a window will open in the browser with the files you want to grab, select the ones you want and download. Disk space is limited to 10gb so don't go over that limit.
3. You'll be asked to login via either a QR code or phone, you need china phone for the phone login so pick QR code instead. Scan it and it'll redirect you to download uc browser on your phone.
4. Once you do that you will need to login to it on your phone app. Default method needs a cn phone, but below there are social media logins, the leftmost one is wechat.
5. Download wechat and make an account, you can use your phone number, don't need a cn one.
6. Go back to uc browser and use the wechat login function
7. You should be able to download the files through the pc client now. When you click download it'll put them on your uc cloud drive, you'll have to head over there and press download again to actually download it on your pc.
8. To get around the 10gb limit, download parts in chunks of 1 or 2, then delete them from the cloud drive and repeat until all parts are done.
It's a hassle to set up but once done it's fast and convenient, the download speed sucks though.

codecs.py is part of the python installation, it looks like a json file got saved as sjis (japanese locale) instead of utf8 as expected by the script
maybe running it in japanese locale will help

the json files are in utf-8, though there's that unix LF... format? or whatever it's called, unlike the .py files which have windows CRLF. You can see it on the bottom right. No idea if that's relevant to the problem

Notepad isn't very good at detecting invalid UTF-8. So that may or may not be the file causing the error.

It would be the same as deleting those settings, since you're changing the setting name.
I'm not familiar with this specific game, should it really be chinese setting names and not japanese?

my stupid solution:
install python 3.12.9, and tick "Add Python to PATH".
in the folder of view, where deepone.exe exists
open terminal here and paste this command : pip install -r requirements.txt
wait until the download finish
replace file do_main.py by this file:

Godlike, that actually fixed it. I'm fucking around with it right now, it seems to be very rudimentary. There are no navigation filters, the scenes don't seem to be sorted or able to be sorted, there is nothing during the scene either, you can only advance forward. It's still cool to be able to see fully animated and voiced scenes but I wish more effort was put into it...
Also the subtitles are in chinese and replacing settings with

Also after skimming it I think it's not actually complete, I'm pretty sure there was a Tsuki ni Yorisou collab that I didn't see here. There were also what seemed to be duplicates but after checking it's actually non-animated versions of animated scenes.
