I feel like the best way to avoid ICE's artifacts is to:
A. Use still frames from whatever scene you're trying to stitch.
B. Make sure to use the Linear Motion panorama setting instead of auto.

Don't try to make stitches from video files. It looks like ass.

Try taking select frames and even cropping existing ones with mspaint to persuade the software to use select parts of a screenshot.

If you're using the software from the OP, under Step 3 - Crop, there's a checkbox option to auto complete an image that does a good job of generating gaps in small areas like the border of an image.
It struggles the larger the gap is though so it doesn't work in all situations.

Is there a better rip of Dark Love out there somewhere? This one I got is kinda fuzzy and it's supposed to be the best one

If your computer can run mspaint, it can do this.
Making animations is a lot more in depth than making just a stitch since you have you stitch all frames of the animation first, then crop and line them up correctly. There was one guy here that was doing them quite well, dunno what his workflow was.

I don't see a HUGE difference with saving them as JPEGs but then again this is a VHS from like 1999

Ironically making stitches would be quicker than making webms. Try checking out the program in the OP.
As for the other one, the program wants to line up the purple lines instead of the characters and I'm getting super busted results. You may have to do that one manually.

1. Make a full stitch of every frame in the animation loop of a panning shot.
2. Use a photo editing tool like PS or Gimp to align all of the frames.
3. Crop every image down to where each frames overlaps the others.
4. Use a video encoder like ffmpeg to convert the series of images into a .gif, .webm, or .mp4.

Yeah maybe 1 out of every 10 was "decent" but all of them has issues. All of them were shittily stitched and a lot were jpg garbage with ugly sharp edges.
It's not even that hard to just make a diagonal cut or whatever to make it look neat.
It would be a lot better if he posted maybe 1 or 2 a day that were stitched properly instead of spamming 50 garbage images a day.
The upscale is fine on some of them, but Bible Black and Resort Boin looks shit. But it's extra worse when he adds another layer of compression on it.
It would be better if he used the original source, people can just upscale those still images if they want and it takes like 1 second.
