Neither, it's using inpainting. I put the her tachi-e on a blank image with a border around it and covered the blank space with an inpainting mask, then tagged all her properties first in the prompt, and then prompted the image I want. Then I wrote some stuff to convince the model not to make a comic with multiple panels out of it and genned a bunch of gens, until I found one I liked that got close to the reference. To upscale it, I set that image as the base image, put an inpaint mask over just the generated part, leaving the reference open, set inpainting strength to 0.5 and typed in the upscaled resolution in the resolution picker. I genned a few and picked the best one to clean up with focus inpainting a bit. For example, I inpainting the earring, including both the reference and the earring I wanted to inpaint in the region. I didn't bother to fix the halo though. As a final step, I could have inpainted some background over the reference.
