The answer is simple: There's no UST. Unresolved Sexual Tension. This is the gasoline in the tank of many stories in manga and anime, most of humanity's stories involve unresolved sexual tension in varying amounts, but manga and romcom anime rely on it like a support pillar.

This is why when you see some garbage where the girls are clearly into the cardboard cutout of the protagonist, you have the protagonist not notice it on purpose, and we scream at the screen that he's a moron, that's because by leaving things open ended about the romantic interests, you can keep stringing people along until they get to see the payoff of the romantic relationship happening once and for all. They stay watching because the sexual tension IS unresolved.

This is also why you see fanart and doujins, because in romcoms and manga, you just have to deal with it until the ending, so they guys who absolutely cannot deal with it take it upon themselves to give their chosen waifu of the week an ending that they deserve, combine that with being horny for cartoons, and you have the market for masturbatory material we all know and love.

What does this essay have to do with Rent a Girlfriend? Simple, there's no UST at all. We all know that the cuck protagonist is gonna end up with absolutely no one. Chizuru clearly doesn't want him, but she's too much of a coward to send him to go hell, Mami just wants to manipulate him, the girl with the heart defect is just mistaking a heart defect for love, and the girl who likes him just cause he was nice to her. Notice a pattern? there's no real love here, no affection, no attraction, nothing.

Couple of answers already:
It's a 3 hour prologue lmao. It's just the groundwork, which has taken a lot of time (put a lot of effort in writing a decent plot).
We tried giving the characters some nuance. So don't expect instant mindbreak because cock too big.
The game has both vanilla and ntr scenes. We're giving Kazuya a chance. This might piss some ppl off from both sides, who knows.
The beta has mostly foreplay scenes, saving up the good shit for later.
The final game will have more stuff, both in gameplay and scenes. Different choices and endings.
