So, I've got about 5k videos saved already over the last three years.
The case is, I actually hardly ever watch a saved hmv second time. Besides maybe couple of exceptions.
There's a huge amount of new hmvs coming out all the time and I do prefer to watch new things. So I'm left with like 3 HDD filled with hmvs I never revisit...
What's it like for you? Do you save hmvs and watch them multiple times? Or do they disappear into oblivion as soon as they're downloaded to your hard drive?

You don't need a seedbox, but it would help for sharing it.
As for how they work, just like any other torrent.
You drag a folder containing all the HMVs onto qBittorrent, create torrent, share the torrent file and the magnet then keep PC on to seed as long as possible.
Ideally the HMVs are sorted beforehand, by editor.
If you want to use seedbox instead, I can't help you as I've never used one.

What I mean are bigger HDDs. Like 2 8TB HDDs, one for your data and one as backup. Just make sure you hash them and verify once a year on both HDDs if you care about the data.
You might get away with 2 4TB HDDs, since you currently have a total of 3TB, but it's really nice to not have to worry about swapping them out later because you decided to store more stuff.
HDDs are the only useful way to store data like videos, no need for SSD unless you plan to process them several times.
HDDs are much safer way to store data, it'll tell you in many ways that it'll fail long before it does and has a 90% recovery chance if you fucked up badly and didn't listen to any of the signs.
SSD however will fail more abruptly with less signs and no chance of recovery. Plus SSD costs a lot more and is only good for speed, if you process videos a lot.

Unless you're using ShotCut, render either as prores or some other lossless method.
Make sure you have enough space, file can end up in tens of GBs depending on project.
Then run it through ffmpeg with this simple parameter:
ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -preset veryslow -pix_fmt yuv420p10le -crf 15 -c:a aac -b:a 256k output.mp4
Replace input.mp4 with the lossless render and output.mp4 to whatever you want file to be called.
Assuming no edit to the audio, if you want that to be in it's best, use mkvtoolnix to replace the audio stream so it's identical to your source with no compromise.
Unless video editor has a way to copy audio, then remove -c:a aac -b:a 256k and simply do -c:a copy
If video editor also doesn't have a way to export lossless audio, use -c:a copy aswell.
For filesize, the main thing is the -crf 15, higher number = lower filesize, but less quality.
0 is lossless, 63 is complete garbage, 23 is default which is still shit.
Generally aim for 15-18, ideally 15.
If you want smaller size than 15 but not the sacrifice of 18, then maybe use H265 instead of H264, at CRF 18, as that more or less equates to CRF 15 with H264, just smaller filesize.
If you have trouble using ffmpeg or want H265 parameters instead, lemme know.

AV1 blurs details, it's in its nature, no matter what you do to it.
AV1 should ONLY serve as an alternative, for those who care less about quality.

H265 is roughly 30% better than H264, there's been probably a thousand benchmarks done on this, both objective and subjective ones.
AV1 being 50% yeah, subjectively. But it all goes to shit if you pause on a frame.
AV1 is extremely good at compressing away things you won't notice in motion as the video plays, but for other than that, it's shit.
Don't go with AV1 for original HMVs... Once it's done, you're now stuck with that hyper compressed format.
A video at CRF 15 with H264 or 18 with H265 can later be compressed as an alternative and it'll compress good. Not with AV1, it has already thrown way too much out.
There are also quite a few scenarios where H264 and H265 outperforms AV1 in metrics, just due to how it works.
Grain for example is a bitch with AV1 and you have to resort to autistic grain synthesis if you want to try and preserve it.
And no, you can't turn off the blur that AV1 does, unless you encode at very low CRF and maybe apply some sharpening filter.
AV1 is great, just not for this use case.

Yes you'll mostly notice it when paused, but it's still quality being thrown away. This is not something you should do with an original HMV. Only as an alternative.
You as a creator, does not have to worry about "MUH FILESIZE". Unless you're Hantres, but exporting at super high bitrates. I have 655 videos of his Iwara compressed videos and it's still only 125GB lmao.
Properly encoded with H264, even a creator who has 100 HMVs, would most likely not have to dedicate more than maybe 50-100 gigs.
Unless of course you don't properly encode and have extreme bitrates at 4k 120 fps meme shit or something, but even then maybe you'd get 500GB, which is still dirt cheap to store.
Realistically, we're talking about creators who produce maybe 10 HMVs, 20 if lucky, so let's say maybe 5-20GB.
There is absolute no reason to sacrifice quality at that point other than as an alternative for poor phonefags.
You can always create an alt version that is more compressed, but you can't undo compression.
If you're unwilling to dedicate the tiny storage, simply send the high quality videos my way, compress your files to oblivion and delete the high quality one lmao.
With AV1, it's much more difficult to get a good encode too, H264 it's insanely simple as it matured ages ago.
Stop trying to convince people to permanently ruin their HMVs. If you don't want to dedicate space for other people's HMVs, compress it yourself however much you like. But don't make others suffer for your lack of storage.

And stop hyper compressing your videos. 1080p 60 fps should be more like 40mbps bitrate, not 10, 4k should be 120mbps.
One video is even as low as 5mbps... Or 4 if you include the "Test PMV WHY" (Also stop labeling it "PMV" just because it's western, it's a retarded small distinction, PMV belongs to IRL shit).
The higher the bitrate the better, ignore the poorfags with 1mbps internet connection from cuba or those who's too poor to store everything or too retarded to compress themselves.

In theory, your videos could probably look 10x better at the same filesize they're at now if encoded properly.
But ideally higher, just let it be what filesize CRF 15 decides it to be.
Storage is dirt cheap and you don't have that many HMVs that you need to worry about storage. Your videos only make up for a mere 11.9GB.

Occasional male vocals like "Baby Lady" is okay-ish, if only it wasn't slowed down.
Not saying slower songs can't work, like your upcoming "just dance - lintrepy, falcoma" is good, but that's because it's a proper remix, not just a song set to 50% speed or whatever.
This assumes of course you use clips that fit with a slow paced song, the clips in "Baby Lady" is not fit for that.

It leaves a lot to be desired. Stuff is in sync, but the pacing isn't very good. It's just clips inserted in that play all the way out, for however long those clips happen to be at the point that they're started. The music just kind of keeps pace the whole time without really changing up, and the visuals do nothing interesting. There's no contrast, no highs and lows.

To be blunt with you, it's really bland. It's not really stimulating my brain much in terms of audio or visual components. This is less like an HMV that I would expect to see someone put out, and more like what I expect someone to do as practice when they're first learning to sync the visuals to the beat.
