I’ve never flown in or out of the northeast but customs is an easy process in the airports I have traveled through.
They usually just ask if you have anything to declare, and maybe scan your bag like TSA, so if you’re worried about any issues just don’t bring any of the usual offending items back. Doujins are just magazines and they won’t bother.
As for actually getting them, go to Melonbooks if you want them new. If you want to buy used dominos at a discount, try Mandarake or large Surugaya/Lashinbang locations. They could be sorted by franchise, circle (author), or fetish so be prepared to know what to look for
Don’t forget all of these stores usually let you buy tax free if your transaction is over 5500 yen and you bring your physical passport for them to scan. There’s a rule about not opening the bags after you’ve bought them or the tax is charged at the airport (to stop people from reselling to non-tourists) but they only check if you buy so much that it’s clear you’re trying to game the system
