8gb vram minimum for the current gen models, 12gb preferred. that's SDXL

if you want to play around with the older models, I used to run SD1.5 on a gtx970 and it even felt like overkill. But they're not capable of much beyond simple scenes.

I had no interest in AI because the pictures it generated were all just things human artists could do, usually better.
But that's no longer the case.
Now that AI does video it can do things that are literally not possible to do for human artists(at least with limited resources normally committed to porn).

We are a small team that is brave enough to ship open weight models on a tiny budget in an environment where not that many companies doing this. And this model is as close to being a completely ground up one as it can be. Which means it's new, everything about it is new and unexplored, but we still want community to start working with us while we continue to commit to it.

Things are complicated, Flux has a fair share of issues and I am very happy that Chroma exists and proves (or disproves) my assessment on AF vs Flux.

We need to get V7 out, it has been cooking for too long, we have to keep n training new models. All of this is complicated, it took us/me 7 models before V6 success because each model tried something new and was used to learn how to do things right.

We sponsored Chroma to "play both sides," and while Flux has some advantages, working on a distilled model required significant technical expertise from Lodestones, and there are a number of issues (like style prompt locking) that the model still suffers from. We're lucky to have very interesting and strong bases like QWEN today, but when we started V7 there was nothing as good. Nevertheless, working on V7 helped us develop the right expertise for building a model from scratch, plus collect all the data which is the backbone of model training.


The toxicity is always very localized to a few actors, you just have to remember that most people who are happy do not write comments.

You know it's grim for a model when not even the comments on Civitai are praising it and instead ripping it apart and calling it trash.

In principle it's not a bad idea, as long the synthetic data is just as good as the real data (in this case the AI pics being equal in quality to real art)
Sadly AI images tend to have defects that are picked up during LoRA training (that's what machine learning does, it learns patterns in data and tries to replicate it)
These defects are often symmetrical landscape backgrounds, deformed eyes, shiny skin, messed up clothing seams, weird perspectives, mangled hands, etc.
So when you have a lot of AI images with these defects in your dataset, during training the LoRA will learn to replicate these defects too and you will see them in your gens that use your LoRA.
You should try and fix all the above in your AI images before including them in a dataset. By doing so you minimize the risk of your concept LoRA also applying an AI slop style filter to all your gens.
This is what I did when I trained a LoRA for a niche concept myself.

Back when V3 was brand new I did a whole bunch of training on various styles that came from artist mixes on V3 and I always felt like they were some of the better loras I could produce simply because I was able to generate images that I thought were perfect images for datasets.
