It's because the Xtreme games were for the coomers (VV was long after he left,) and the claim that he viewed the characters as his daughters is complete bullshit (hack Ken Levine bait.) He referred to the franchise as his daughter, and didn't like that the mainline fighting games got, in his view, excessively erotic in 5 onward (he left in '08 after Ninja Gaiden 2.) Whether or not you agree with him is up to you, but such a petty debate seems quaint compared to the fucking abysmal DLC practices of more modern DoA games. So fap away in his honor, anons.

We don't know. Cause of death has not been revealed, but his friend Mielke explained in an Instagram post that he Itagaki had a prolonged battle with his illness. If I were to guess, he had cancer considering he was a heavy smoker.
