Yeah, it's a mess if you're working with ComfyUI directly. There's probably a better way of doing this, but these days I use the Krita plugin with a ComfyUI backend if I need anything more than trivial regions. Makes it easier to iterate inpainting and add manual touchups, too.

luke, use subgraphs
it's a rather recent feature and it has made all the workflows I use much nicer
group the nodes that would make sense to have in a regular ui together into a subgraph, which is like a workflow within the workflow, and you can decide which input and ouput you expose from that group in your main workflow
so you could do something like having a loader meganode that has all your model loading/lora/vae whatever, one node that has all the prompt fields stacked on top of each other while also hiding the individual "define region" "convert mask" nodes that you would rarely want to change, one node for all your custom ksampler shit (will make your spaghetti look like a regular ksampler node) etc.
I was never too bothered by the spaghetti soup but I'll be honest it feels like using a new piece of software once you've cleaned up and converted all your workflows into the subgraph world.

AI can't produce good detail at low resolution. You should upscale the image and do a second AI pass at low denoise. Guides call this process HiresFix.

For general genning I have all main subgraph'd nodes fit my window and no longer have to pan around to change major settings anymore, only the important things are exposed.
I'd go as far as to say I've come to love the way comfyui works because of this, I'd like more GUI apps feature a way to construct your own UI out of what you want to use and not see anything more than that

4.5 is very limited when it comes to its stylistic capabilities.
