Teaching Feeling X95
What is Teaching Feeling (Dorei to no Seikatsu)? An eroge where you take in a young "broken bird" slave who was abused by her former master, and heal her heart and soul. Fall in love with the endearing Sylvie as she learns to feel again, trust others, and fall in love (and lust).

Previous Thread >>8388226

A complete remake of the game is in progress, and several anons are training AI models on Ray's art to generate new Sylvies. Help is appreciated.

I've been doing some of the AI stuff including this threads start pic.
Just messing around with styles for fun.

From what I know from 3.0 and how the game is set up. It is a lot of hair placements, clothes, accessories for each scene practically.

I've been unable to really say I have a 1:1 match with Ray's style. Specifically Sylvie.
That said, I still feel weird to take away Ray-K's ownership from this game.
With how Ray is... I can only imagine his thoughts on AI.

From a moral standpoint I think the better route is for the anons collaborating on this to get an artist and make their own original project in the "caring for a broken girl" genre. However I will not deny that many anons feel strongly attached to Sylvie specifically and will want to continue her story since Ray clearly isn't gonna be doing it anytime soon if ever.

The way I feel about it is like if an author wrote a third of a book with a really interesting premise and then just fucked off into the woods and got mad at anyone calling him lazy yanderedev style.

At that point you have thrown your creation out into the world and if you will do nothing with it then I will.

Also it does help that the game itself has so little content that its doable to just clone the damn thing. Would have been a problem for me if he actually gave this game actual content.

on a side note, wasn't there some project on another board that also turned into its own thing. I want to say its called snootgame or snoot something or other.

Yes, Snoot Game was made by a bunch of Anons based very loosely on characters from Goodbye Volcano High, a game that ended up being bland and dogshit, while the earnest efforts by Anons resulted in a "parody" game that was infinitely better than what a professional studio produced.

Anons, I need your help, please, I asked this same question back in 2021 but no one gave me any answers, I need your help with this, especially since today is Sylvie's birthday.
I am already aware of the Endearing Nephy game, but please, tell me that there exists a fangame or a mod where you take care of both Sylvie and Nephy together?, they look so cute together, I want to adopt them both and make them sisters, seeing them hugging each other safely in their father's care and protection gives me feelings that I am unable to properly describe, how the hell do drawings on a screen give me such fatherly instincts?, why aren't they real?, fuck you Ray, and fuck all Japs in general, fuck you for doing this to me.
(Bonus if the mod/fangame has you marry Aurelia and thus she becomes Sylvie's and Nephy's adoptive mom, now the two girls can finally have a loving family)

current idea is to have every scene be a node and branch out, going to add features to this as I remake what routes already exist in the game.

going to have the image change to whatever background and first set of forground images used to help keep it readable, maybe a title above it as well.

if yall got ideas or whatnot that should be added feel free to post it and once I get the game routes done I'll look into adding whatever editor features that seem easy enough to add before the new year.

I have no personal stake in this, but I remember some anons wanting the dark route to be explored more - one where she doesn't die, and where she just indulges in physical pleasure. Maybe still have her develop feelings for the doctor that remain unreciprocated in this route.

Also, maybe the flower stuff can be expanded into an actual alchemy section, where you collect flowers and other ingredients (with Sylvie), make various potions, and sell them under the counter. Also unlock the ending (wedding) if you have a certain amount of money and your Sylvie remains pure. Money being an actual mechanic would make the money the doctor spends on Sylvie matter a lot more (to the player). Maybe have an energy bar for Sylvie that limits how much sex you can have with her, and increased lust or an improved house can increase her daily regen or her max energy, to the point where she has so much abundant energy she's asking you for it. That could also play into the dark route, where you effectively prostitute Sylvie (more money, less pure) until she actively starts craving it.

I kinda don't know how much effort y'all willing to put into this though.

brother I said features for the editor, I'll add in the routes in the base game but after that its up to you and whoever else wants to make the art for it. It's been that way for years as far as I know, happens only with certain abbreviation.

Also, in the editor, any chance you add a description on how to get a route? I imagine it like a pop up that shows up when your cursor is over the node and says something like
"Stats needed for scene:
100 Lust
300 affection
Summer dress
During the day"

I don't know what engine you're using, but can you please, PLEASE instruct it to use actual tiling VRAM to store assets in it? I've just debugged a Unity game that stored its assets in a memory section not optimizing for tiling, and lord, did it show. Those 100-cycle penalties per texel are REAL.

I understood maybe like half of that but I wouldn't be that worried about it. This thing is taking less then 200 MB of memory for textures and it only loading a handful of images at a time anyways. idk what the fuck the og dev was cooking with whatever engine this game was made on but the load times for all the assets is impressively bad
Anonymous No.8761254 [Report] >>8761973
>>8761227
Size is irrelevant, this is about tiling. Generally spoken there are two ways resources are stored in memory heaps:
>linear: exactly like pixel data would appear to a CPU. Great for 1D buffers like vertices, indices, uniforms, but absolute garbage for 2D resources like images.
>tiled: complete and utter, but functional, chaos. Has mipmaps and layers and metadata that can easy take more than an additional 100% of the actual image size, but 2D-access is lightning-fast. Buffer speed is so slow you're better off streaming from system RAM via the (PCIe) bus though. To avoid overhead per image a lot of engine perform atlasing, where they put a bunch of smaller images into a big one and then create subviews from it; the overhead's only applied per image, not subview.

I don't know your engine, but I can at least give you directions how to do it in Vulkan, if you want to research the equivalents yourself.
Anonymous No.8762122 [Report] >>8763135 >>8767954
>>8761973
Also, no, it's not just a "small thing". Each frame is going to have some asset or another rendered to the swapchain, and each pixel access of that scene is going to incur a penalty if you don't upload it into an optimal buffer.

well I'm not gonna promise anything but sure I'll look into it if you want to drop the directions for Vulcan.

Making the game on redot, tldr devs from godot got mad that bugs weren't getting fixed and branched off.
Anonymous No.8763331 [Report]
>>8763135
I didn't find the source code for Rodot, but I did look into Godot's. As far as I can tell, if you call texture_create with TEXTURE_USAGE_CPU_READ_BIT set, the engine enforces linear tiling instead of optimal:
>create_info.tiling = (p_format.usage_bits & TEXTURE_USAGE_CPU_READ_BIT) ? VK_IMAGE_TILING_LINEAR : VK_IMAGE_TILING_OPTIMAL
Now, I don't know why you would want to read back data from your images - most code writes their data into staging buffers via memcpy, which ends up issuing non-temporal stores above a certain threshold (depends on CRT and/or cache sizes), which in effect means that your target data is never ever gonna be in your cache - but there's your warning.

(Also their memory management is garbage because they try to be opaque about their ABI. They call VersatileResource::allocate without allowing the user to determine where the image is going to be stored, and let's not even talk about batching, shall we)

Not the dev guy you were talking to, but I've been studying this and I'm still not sure I can grasp the abstract nature of what's happening here.

Can you explain like I'm retarded? I thought the pixels were just drawn based on instructions in memory, or am I understanding graphics wrong?
Anonymous No.8768011 [Report]
>>8767954
>pixels were just drawn based on instructions in memory
That would be the equivalent of *vector graphics*. What we're taking about are *raster graphics* made of pixels, which become blurry when (usually bilinearily) filtered.

>but this is a 2D game
So 2D games still use triangles to display their contents. Two of them form a rectangle, and the GPU automatically applies your texture to each triangle via the UV coordinates. Texture access depends on the proximity of the data (reading from bus is much slower than reading from VRAM), and from the internal ordering of each pixel (linear is much slower than optimal).

What's exactly happening with tiling is that the GPU puts neighboring pixels all within the same cache line. This eases memory pressure and simplifies prefetching. If the pixels are linearly tilied, then accesses can vary across multiple cache lines, increasing memory pressure and throwing off the prefetcher and wasting GPU cycles on every pixel that is read from the texture on every frame.
