You know how the US uses Latin America as a region of cheap labor and cheap resource-extraction? Historically, Western and Central Europe did the same to Eastern Europe.
There's a reason why the Germans have a long history of showing nothing but sheer contempt for Slavs and have always wanted to take their lands and repopulate them with actual human beings.

It's much easier to discriminate against Eastern Europeans than against people from other races or former colonies.
The problem, however, is that the eternal Anglo carries a deep sense of guilt for practically allowing the Soviet Union to take control and install puppet regimes in Eastern Europe, much like their own historical treatment of their colonies.
