I mean all greatest minds in human history (Aquinas, Augustine, Hegel, Plato, Aristotle, Mendel, Lemaître, Copernicus, Einstein, Spinoza, Newton, etc.) were religious.

Meanwhile the most stupid and bloody individuals (Marx, Stalin, Mao, Varg, etc.) were Atheists.

How linked is Atheism to mediocrity and stupidity given not a single scientist of value has ever been one?

Atheism is linked to higher income and higher IQ. Religion is linked to poverty and higher birth rates.

An atheist is one who prefers a web of logical fallacies over the clean and simple truth that they are afraid to face

I mean he believed in a very vague notion of "God" that is practically atheistic from a Christian perspective. So if that counts as religious to you than sure.
