Why arenโ€™t powerful people more vengeful? Like Xi suffered under Mao, some of those people were still alive when he came into power, why not get revenge?

he literally ended corruption and resolved the major contradictions of the state. his people love him for the much needed reforms and prosperity he has brought his country. i know a leader improving things and being therefore popular is incomprehensible to a westoid brain but your opinion really doesn't matter at all this far into the chinese century.

>Like Xi suffered under Mao
He found it to be a learning experience that also kept him grounded. Also really does not want to retreat the same errors Mao and Gorbrachev did.

There's no evidence that they aren't vengeful. Unless the people they're going after are important somehow you probably wouldn't hear about it. The only Chinese politicians whose names I would even recognize are former heads of state

If I become powerful it's not revenge anymore, it's just karma/justice and it would be my morally responsibility to enact justice on those who've wronged me. I wouldn't even want to get revenge on those who've abused me, really, I would just be morally obligated to if I ever rose to a position of power. If I cut the faces off the gangstalkers who threaten to "cut my face off" that would just be karma not revenge, if I cut the dick off the faggot who puts semen in my food that would just be karma not revenge, if I drove nails into the skulls of the people who rape my mind with remote neural monitoring technology and abuse, harass, terrorize, threaten etc me for my thoughts that would just be karma not revenge, if I kill the people who threaten to kill me for eating any food they think isn't "peasant food" that would just be karma not revenge, if I cut the hands off the people who steal from me it's just karma not revenge, if I cut the tongues out of the people who lie about me and threaten, harass, terrorize me it would just be karma not revenge. It would be impossible for me to "get revenge" if I was powerful, it would all just be karmic justice.

Some of the people who were responsible were put on trial in the late 1970s. I'm not sure what Xi thinks, but part of the issue with a radical communist regime like the Mao era is that it indicts large numbers of people in what it's doing on mass scale. Like kids denouncing their parents and stuff like that. The concept of the "rule of law" where there are rules about what can and can't be done, and hence a clear chain of responsibility, doesn't really apply in a revolutionary period. It's far too chaotic. So what happened is that Mao died and his batshit wife and members of her clique were arrested and charged with killing some folks and then everyone decided to move on.

The anti-corruption campaign was popular but there's more opposition to other aspects of his presidency than you're being told, and which is not expressed openly because you can get in real trouble in China for that, and there's also more conflict on the ground that is going on that the party's internet censors try to remove from the internet (like a factory being set on fire by workers a few days ago). They've been experiencing deflation which is also contributing to rising unemployment and wages not being paid in some cases that lead to stuff like this happening.
