The only problem with african colonialism is that when they took resources from the natives, how did they pay them? They paid them in goods usually, not money, or food. Goods. This prevented them from creating their own economies and made them overly rely on the colonial government. Other countries, like india, already had developed economies and could benefit more from colonization

Colonialism is bad not because of the aims, but because genuinely a good chunk of those people in Africa had no desire to live as anything other than iron-age subsistence farmers. These were vanity projects that cost the Europeans far more than they gained and were all fated to be taken away from them even if the land was basically empty when they got there (see: Rhodesia). Look at how Zimbabwe is now, did Colonialism or modernization or democracy benefit them? No, it destroyed the validity of the institutions which controlled them for millennia. They now live in the burnt out husks of old European cities amid open sewage with a fierce hatred for whitey despite relying on him entirely. The mission of the colonies should have been to park a few churches down there and maybe get a port or two for shipping then simply let the natives be.
