One of the most important early Church leaders, Origen, literally castrated himself on account of Matthew 19:12
>For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

Eusebius of Caesarea (early 4th century) also hinted it may have partly been a result of his concerns over perceived impropriety teaching women but still.

He did the right thing, of course.

>If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

The narrative climax of the New Testament is a human sacrifice for a reason, all Abrahamic faiths are ultimately a blood cult.

Remember this when a Christoid tells you how atheism and modernity or some shit made people want to chop their dicks off and chastise him for not following this stellar example of true faith.

Origen never documented it, himself.

I think, honestly, this has to be allegorical for a collective body of people, otherwise it would promote bodily mutilation. Which would not make sense as the book also promotes marriage and making babies.

Early Christianity did not promote that. In 1 Cor 7, Paul begrudgingly allowed people who could not control their sexual desires to get married, but he very clearly thought that celibacy is the best. There's no point in making babies since the apocalypse is coming in two weeks.

remember that early christards were irrationally hostile to each other on account of distinctions without a difference, and that OPs claim was made up by Origen's enemies, of which he had many.

It didn't, it just reframed perspective such that killing pagans/heretics was no longer conceived of in the same way as a sacrifice
