Calvinism can be a lot of things and there's a diverse global presence. But a lot of the weird fatalistic stuff is just an encoding for social control. When they have to explain themselves constantly with bizarre logic loops and insinuations you can see it's really about making some people give up and allowing other people to take advantage of that.
