If an American millenarian were to go to Rome and brag about how he shared wives with his peers the night before popping up for Mass, the Catholics would not care. They'd probably offer to baptize him.
If a Druze or Alevi were to so much as hang around a community of Sunnis, any stir they cause is gonna end with them being turned away, or worse.
Having a dedicated class of people who actually study the book, advise other followers on how to understand scripture, and offer guidance is what makes it work so well. Muftis guided soldiers mamlukes and generals to victory. Christians never had this, which is why a lot of the clerical soldiery you'll find among them engaged in demon worship. The christian priestly class does nothing and nothing they preach is ever recorded. I can ask one pastor about a verse, and another pastor will tell me something different entirely.
