this shitty backwater island got to rule planet earth for like 150 years because they discovered how to use funny black rocks before everyone else did. kinda funny how that works. if you told a roman that one day the province of Britannia would have a globe-spanning empire, they would think it was a hilarious joke.

It's more like Napoleon destroyed Europe and they are the only ones left with enough resource and manpower to actually benefit from the tech
