When exactly did Christianity apostatize from exactly what Jesus said? When Paul elbowed his way in? When the apostles died and everyone took it from there based on their own interpretation? When Constantine committed heretic religious syncretism? When the crusades were called? Or simply... never?
>>17786491 (OP)Idk but I genuinely do not understand why a church needs to be adorned with gold
>For the glory of GodYeah. You do the glory of God by melting that shit and giving food to the poor
Christianity diverged from the words of Jesus the moment it prioritized belief systems, institutions, or imperial power over his radical ethical teachings. Whether thatโs Paul, Constantine, or later popes depends on your lens.
>>17786494yeah, just like judus argued for
>>17786494To hold the literal body and blood of the lord Jesus Christ.
>>17786491 (OP)>When exactly did Christianity apostatizeWhen it erroneously recognized non whites as part of the body of Christ.
Paul did nothing wrong, btw.
>>17786508He's already in each of us. Why limit him to a cup and altar?
>>17786508How do you not realize that the church has become like the Pharisees? Do you genuinely believe each time you conduct a ritual, Christ is smiling? It only satisfies the traditions of MAN, not the Spirit of God.
>>17786514Because he commanded us to.
>>17786522Because the traditions of "man" were handed down by the apostles and the first christians. The traditions center on the scripture and it's divine teachings and commands. Each time we "conduct a ritual" (what a sad little jab) we are recalling the words of scripture and the practices of the church fathers.
>>17786525Do you honestly think Christ would look at this and approve?
>>17786525Just like the Pharisees were doing, right?
>>17786525Is the church infallible? How are certain Popes reconciled, especially when they have little harems of prostitutes? Is the church of Rome not the whore of Babylon? Would Jesus Christ Himself not be crucified by the majority of "Fathers" and Popes if it meant they would retain their WORLDLY POWER?
>>17786550The church is a self correcting instrument of the holy spirit. Corruptible men may have sat the seat through political treachery in medieval times but that's why there are councils and reformers.
The Church is in no way the Whore of Babylon. The majority of Popes and Priests have no worldly power, especially today. You look at the Borgias and seek to paint hundreds of years of tradition with the same base brush.
>>17786561>The Church is in no way the Whore of BabylonThen why did the author call it that? He was clearly speaking of Rome
>>17786552Perfect, melt all that gold and pour it away. They won't though
>>17786586You didn't read the passage, did you?
>>17786590Jesus says he won't always be there for the poor, doesn't mean he himself was hoarding it.
>>17786592The Catholic church is literally the world's largest charitable organization.
The apostles may have had first hand experience with Christ. But they continued to be inspired to discern and behave, with the help of the Holy Spirit (Pentecost).
And indeed the gospels were communicated orally before being penned. It is with guidance from the Holy Spirit that allowed ecumenical councils, to discern, along with great discussion and prayer - to decide how what was written aligns with the oral tradition, as well as how to interpret the gospels. The Church is not based soley on the Gospels.
Members of the Church have the capacity to sin. The spread of Catholicism through Colonialism, sexual abuse by clergy, witch hunts. All are WRONG.
Where there cannot be ANY fault is as it related to papal infallibility, where the Pope speaks definitively on matters of the faith. This has only been done TWICE in all of history.
The capacity to sin, is why we pray for church leaders. So they may be properly guided by the Holy Spirit. Also they may be โleadersโ, but their role is one of service to the Church. Jesus washed the feet of his apostles, and told them to do the same.
In the Catechism - Ministers of the Church are truly the slaves of Christ, the word and grace for which are not their own, are given by Christ for the sake of others. They must freely become the slaves of all.
Matthew 20:25-27
But Jesus called them to him and said, โYou know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones are tyrants over them. It will not be so among you; but whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you must be your slave;
>>17786525>church fathersThanks for admitting you're LARPing. Enjoy Hell.
>>17786508God shrinks His ego, to fit in the Host. It is not weakness, it is divine love.
And we are to shrink our ego to make space for Him in consuming his body. So his flesh becomes our flesh. And we become living tabernacles - the Holy of Holies where God resides.
It is called communion, as we have God in us, and around us, joining the Church who also eat of His body.
>>17786672Don't you have a strip mall church to go speak tongues and handle snakes in?
>>17786744No. But you did just rail against a born-again child of God. Those flames just got hotter. Tick tock.
>>17786765I railed against a Heretic.
>>17786494>You do the glory of God by melting that shit and giving food to the poorSomebody hasn't read the description of the Jerusalem temple...
>>17786491 (OP)It started getting popular with wealthy people in Rome. Then it was all over.
>>17786491 (OP)Jesus Christ instituted a Church. That literally means the Church belongs to God. She is his, and he is hers. People who impute to her the power of the devil are actually in danger of blaspheming the Holy Spirit, which remember, means attributing the power of God's spirit to Satan, literally, calling good evil. It would be better to know nothing then to definitely say you know something when you can barely pass classes at a public school, much less pretend at being a scholar. Remember, the people who grew up with Jesus were scandalized when he began his mission, because they only ever knew him as the carpenter's son, not as God himself. You are one of them when you focus on the human element of God's Church, to the exclusion of the countless evidence of her divine element.
>>17786491 (OP)When a bunch of Greco-Roman elites co-opted it into a state institution
>>17786596>"Charitable organization"So you're saying the money I give to them goes to charity? Or does 80+% go into salaries, building maintenance, landscaping, and utilities?
That's not a charity at all retard, that's a grift.
Don't forget that the Catholic church operates the largest illegal immigrant law advocacy group too. You can thank them for flooding Europe and the US
