Anybody have book recs on American History that isnโ€™t written by someone who clearly hates us? I want to learn more about my people and their history but every book I pick up is dominated by how evil the white devil is.

Wanting to learn from past mistakes, and make this nation a better place, does not equal hating America.

I do not need another book that is 2/3 full of slave trade, genocide of the indians, Frederick Douglass, emancipation, Womenโ€™s Suffrage, Jim Crow, Japanese Internment, and Civil Rights. I learned that shit a dozen times over in public education and unfortunately again in university. I want to learn about the Revolution and the Founding fathers (beyond like 5 of them). I want to know about the populist movements and the rebellions and Jackson and the history of how my people made this Nation one of the greatest ever seen. Iโ€™m more than aware of the past โ€œmistakes.โ€

>my people

If you're really American, you don't need a book to tell you your history.

This book wasnโ€™t half bad. It was surprisingly straightforward with the facts of what happened.

Bro there are a minimum of 3 1000 page books on every founding father. You just have to do this thing called google. And then instead of thinking 1 300 page book is going to teach you everything read a 1000 page book on a single subject. Do you think real historians, unless they are trying to get mainstream money write easily digestible books?

Cool, so like we said we're looking for history books not written from a Marxist anti-American viewpoint. You know, preferably from authors who do NOT support things like land redistribution, slave reparations, a new constitution, cultural revolution, decolonization, antitheism, etc.

>Most Americans canโ€™t remember what ethnicity their great grandparent was,
I have pictures of my great great grandparents, or at least, two of them.

That has basically nothing to do with learning your country's history. You could know everything about your specific family while being illiterate about the history, geopolitics or philosophical underpinnings of your country, or you could know a ton about the latter and not the former. You are clearly retarded for either not knowing, or not acknowledging, the difference.

You can make inferences about eras from the stories you hear.

The distance is not as far as you think. Our great grandparents elders would have been civil war vets. A person can make inferences about different eras from the familial stories they hear. An argument can be made that you get a more accurate picture of the history of everyday people that way.

I don't remember the authors of the following books but one I read is called Patriots and it is not anti American in any way, except by showing also the side of the brits sometimes. One book I didn't yet read but I intend to is called Nature's God and documents the ideological roots of the American revolution.
