The Italian Republic is the true successor of Rome because Rome is its capital.

Ottomans calling themselves Romans is like a vulture claiming it’s an eagle because it ate one. Not only was Mehmed’s title a pathetic propaganda stunt, but (religiously speaking) Islam and Christianity are totally different in concept, theology, and content.
Nothing is Ottoman, nothing is "Turkish".
