The bible contradicts history. This has been mainstream and well known for decades among archeologist and published peer reviewed academics. However it wasn't well known amongst every to day people. And this probably still the case to this day. Most people probably don't know that the bible's account of history contradicts the material evidence of those bygone eras. even in countries where belief in the bible is declining. And the people who stop believing in the bible probably do so for reasons other than it's contradiction to history. I mean most people think biblical writings are bronze age and iron age writings. When the bulk of the bible is most likely from the Hellenistic period. not even from the Persian period.

>be archaeologist
>dig around Sinai for decades
>find literally zero evidence of millions of Israelites wandering for 40 years
>Exodus not even once
>read about Jericho walls falling from trumpet blast
>actually check Jericho
>city was already destroyed centuries before Joshua would’ve arrived
>bible cope intensifies
>open Bible
>David and Solomon had giga-kingdom with gold, palaces, empire vibes
>check archaeological record
>barely find a few huts and broken pottery
>“unified monarchy” my ass
>see Philistines mentioned in Abraham’s time
>they didn’t even exist yet
>bible.exe has stopped working
>global flood with Noah and zoo boat
>geology and archaeology: “nah bro, never happened”
>no flood layers, no mass extinction, no ark debris
>boat story just vibes
>look up ancient records from Egypt, Assyria, Babylon
>expect epic Bible battles and plagues
>records: “who?”
>Bible getting ghosted by history
>dig in Canaan
>expect foreign Israelite invaders
>instead find Canaanites slowly evolving into Israelites
>“conquest of Canaan” was just a rebrand
>analyze Hebrew texts
>turns out most were written centuries after events they describe
>tfw your holy book is historical fanfic

If the bible contradicts history then why does it match up perfectly with recorded history when contrasted with it? Spouting lies on /his/ isn’t an example of sufficient research.

It doesn’t line up with history. According to actual history
>Absolutely zero evidence of anything happening the book of Exodus in real life, no evidence of the patriarchs such as Abraham and Isaac and Jacob.
>No evidence that the Israelites were ever in Egypt, let alone enslaved
>No evidence of the conquest of Canaan by Joshua
>Jerusalem by the iron age was only a tiny hill country town and never a capital
>Earliest mentioning of the Israelites as a people or nation was on some Egyptian stone marble in the late 13th century bc, nothing discovered prior to that date
>God was originally Yahweh and then in before was a god named El and was part of a pagan cult of the Canaanite pantheon
>Israelite kingdom only showed up in the 10th or 9th century bc
>Regularly practiced Yahwehism where God had a consort named asherah
>Only started actually being monotheistic after returning from exile in Babylon and establishing a second temple
This means that Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are worshipping a god that has its roots in typical Canaanite polytheism, and therefore false

The shit atheists will say when scientists go into an observation with the preconceived bias that a god cannot exist and then come up with a bunch of biased nonsense archeological discoveries.

>find evidence for the Exodus
>well that can't be evidence for the Exodus because the Exodus didn't happen.

See the logic problem here?

Egyptian records mention the Semitic people Hyksos being expelled. We also have the Merneptah Stele confirming that a group called Israel existed in the region of Canaan not long after the supposed time of the Exodus. And there are non Biblical sources for other historical events, like how the Tel Dan Stele corroborates David's existence.

Except ancient Egyptians were rather decent with record keeping. So, the idea of the Exodus not really showing up in their records is suspect.

If the jews were the hyksos and the events in exodus are correct then Egypt was somehow able to miraculously revitalize itself and conquer all of the levant right after getting its pharaoh killed, its army destroyed and all of its cattle and horses as well as its firstborns killed in the plagues

That isn't really all that crazy compared to the accepted historical narrative where the Hyksos were expelled after a long and brutal war. Some gnarly shit probably went down in Egypt whether the Hyksos were the Biblical Exodus Hebrews or not.

Isn’t that a good thing? The books in the Bible are full of deep spiritual wisdom, but they are also full of horrific acts of war, and it’s a good thing that these acts never happened. Instead, focus on the inner symbolic meaning of these texts

Have you ever heard of the Hasmoneans? They used the Torah to justify their conquest of Palestine. They brutally conquered and converted the Edomites, the Samaritans, the Itureans, the Galileans, anyone really that they could put under their dominion. There was even a book that used to exist, I think it's cited in Numbers, called the Book of the Wars of the YHWH. Making fictional genocides and wars and claiming that God commanded it justified later atrocities. It's not a good thing.

You’ve spammed this atrocious copypasta countless times taking up various threads for the bare minimum of a month now, at least. You’ve received refutations to tour disingenuous dogpiling every single time, and yet every time you only respond with “cope” or intentional misinterpretation of the refutation you receive.

At this point, petition mods to create a separate theology board if you want to debate religion l, because half this fucking board is taken over by spammers all spewing variations of the same stupid “LE CRYSTCUK IS DUMB AND BAD AND ALSO WRONG AND DUMB” as opposed to using this hoard for the good faith discussion about history it was made for. If they won’t make you a separate board then go debate on some shitty theology forum website or make youtube videos so some christian apologist can rape you in a debate

Don’t bother engaging. This guy is a disingenuous spammer. He is not actually arguing these points, nor does he want to hear your opinion or counter-arguments. He’s spammed this exact thread for weeks on end. He cannot engage in good faith debate and win, so he flood the board in hopes of getting you to engage and drain your energy so that you, ideally, are discouraged from speaking to people who will actually consider what you have to say

the narrative of religion causing war needs to shift.
It’s more accurate to say war uses religion as an excuse to do what it already do wanted to do.

Man the christucks are BEYOND assblasted ITT. Excellent post OP, more people need to learn to engage religion from an archaeological and physical evidence point of view like this instead of trying to deconstruct its nonsensical “theology”, just for its adherents to dynamically and disingenuously reconstruct said theology on the fly in a pitiful attempt to salvage it.

My personal favorite approach is to point out that Genesis - the bedrock of all Abrahamism - is a near word for word plagiarism of various “pagan” Sumero-Akkadian mythologies, at least up until right after the flood. Very frst lines of Genesis (i.e. the very first lines of all Abrahamism) vs the Enuma Elis:

Genesis Book 1, Line 2
>”Now the earth was unformed and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the spirit of God hovered over the face of the waters.”
Enuma Elis Tablet 1, Lines 2-5
>”When above the heaven had not yet been made”
>”And below the earth had not yet been called by a name”
>”When Apsu (the primordial embodiment of fresh water) primeval their begetter”
>”And Tiamat (the primordial embodiment of salt water), she who gave birth to them all”
>”Still mingled their waters together”

Genesis Book 1, Lines 6-7
>”And God said: 'Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.' “
Enuma Elish Lines 135-136
>”The lord (Marduk) rested, examining her (Tiamat’s) dead body (the seas)”
>”To divide the abortion and create ingenious things therewith”

Genesis Line 7
>”And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so.”
Enuma Elis Tablet 4, Lines 137-140
>”He (Marduk) split her (Tiamat, i.e. the seas) open like a mussel, into two”
>”Half of her he set in place and formed the sky as a roof”
>”He fixed the crossbar and posted guards”
>”He commanded them not to let her waters escape”

NTA, but that’s what I think is the case. All the religious people are actually LARPing atheists trolls pretending to be religious retards.

I’ve tried having real debate on here about religion (particularly Christianity) because I find it interesting to do so. It’s impossible to do it in real life because people get butthurt over religion.

But it sucks here to because I’ll write a whole paragraph explaining why, from my perspective, their argument doesn’t make sense. Then they just ignore everything I just wrote, respond with some shit like “The Disciples wouldn’t die for a lie” or some other cookie-cutter Apologetic talking point, call me a Redditor, and then say I have a God-shaped hole in my brain or some shit.

Like I don’t think there’s a single “Christian” poster here that doesn’t just resort to calling atheists Redditors and faggots while refusing to actually engage in discussion.

Anyways, I’ve wasted too much time on this shithole. This might be the worst blue board on the site.
