Obviously the Great Schism. They had a chance to reform the errors introduced by the Romans but chose not to, and are now in some ways even worse than them (e.g. aerial tollbooths and idol-worship).

So the Reformation happened in the Catholic West. Why was there never a similar phenomenon in the Orthodox East?
