Only the 5 mandatory prayers need to be done in arabic because the Quran was revealed in arabic and any translation will inherently alter some of it's meaning. If translations were allowed to be used in prayer, let's take indonesia for example, a muslim nation that's thousands of miles away from Mecca, by the time a quran reached indonesia through multiple different countries it would've been translated so many times that it's meaning would be altered.

If you're just making dua or praying for a specific reason you can do that in any language.
